Honest fee for a great job!
The hourly rate for Paul is $450 per hour plus gst, and $350 per hour plus gst for my lawyer - which gives some people a heart attack!! But the hourly rate is NOT the issue. The issue is, how much money did we get for you, and what did you pay us?
So if we got you compensation of something like $20,000 dollars, then we think a fee of somewhere around $3,000 to $6,000 is fair and reasonable. Especially if your employer is paying some or all of that cost.
If we go to mediation, which takes around half a day (plus some preparation time) then our average fee for that is around $3,500 plus gst.
If we go to the Employment Relations Authority we will discuss fees, which will be significantly more than the fee for a mediation.
We do not take a share of what ever you might get and we do not offer "no win no fee". We do good work for clients and think we should get paid for that work. But we do understand that some employees can only pay us if they get paid some compensation, and we can work with that - give us a call to chat further.
Most employment disputes - if settled by agreement - include payment of some or all of your legal costs by your employer.
